My husband and I like change. We are on our 14th residence. With all the moves we have made I have learned a lot about packing and the best way to do it. Several things I have learned:
– If your company will pay for boxes, get them. They are sturdy and can withstand multiple moves. I just break them down and stash them in the attic.
– I thoroughly label my boxes. I don’t just write the room the box goes to. I want to know what is in that box so that when I need something, I know which box to go to. Then I re-use for the next move. Even if you think you are going to get everything unpacked quickly, it doesn’t always happen (unless your are OCD about like I am – who needs sleep when you can unpack). And all those boxes look the same when they get into the new place.
I really like some of the ideas on this article. Color coding the boxes by room is something I would do. One of my daughter in law’s would greatly appreciate that and my grandson Booney – would appreciate the colorful tape on the boxes. I also like the idea of packing the most important – you need it quickly stuff in plastic see thru bins (even though this would probably be more expensive than a box.)
